We at Maravigghia have found 5 good reasons to visit Sicily during the Christmas/winter season!

  1. The climate: except for a few days, winter temperatures here always hover around 10–18 degrees due to a significant temperature range, providing perfect moments to enjoy the sunshine! What should you wear? Dress in layers!
  2. The sea in winter: the feeling of walking along Mondello beach during the holidays is something truly unforgettable that will give you a great sense of tranquility and peace. Bring a towel and stretch out on the beach in the gentle winter sunshine
  3. Musical events: Palermo is beautiful both in summer and winter, thanks to its wide range of shows and events scattered throughout the city! From festivals such as the Jazz Fest held in January to the theater program at the Teatro Massimo, which is certainly worth seeing for a ballet or opera. In addition, for younger visitors, the city offers several musical events organized in clubs throughout the historic center. We recommend always checking Facebook events to find out where to go dancing during the weekend!
  4. Christmas: they may not be the Christmas markets of South Tyrol, but Palermo dresses up in countless lights and colors during the holidays! From the markets on Via Emerico Amari to the dazzling shop windows on Via Libertà... you are bound to feel like shopping!
  5. The range of cultural monuments: many tourists take it for granted that Palermo can only be experienced outdoors, but that is not the case! There are countless monuments worth visiting indoors, even on rainy days, and if you ask a local, surely even they will never have visited all these places. What are we talking about? From museums such as the Salinas, the GAM, Riso or Abatellis to the wonderful eighteenth-century palaces scattered throughout the historic center, once belonging to aristocratic and noble families, such as Palazzo Comitini, Palazzo Asmundo and Palazzo Mirto. And of course, do not forget the monuments of the Arab-Norman site, which must be visited inside to appreciate their unique beauty!
