The Leopard - Fine Art Prints

The Leopard is the symbol of the declining Sicilian nobility, embodied by Prince Fabrizio Salina. The elegant 18th-century sofa evokes the prestige and refinement of an aristocracy that once held power, but now stands still in the face of historical changes. The image of the Leopard lying on that sofa suggests precisely this inertia: a proud and wild animal made docile, just like a ruling class that, while still enjoying privileges, has lost its function. The contrast between the sofa and the leopard, between luxury and wild nature, reinforces the idea of a power that has now been emptied, preserved more as a symbol than as a reality.
