Type of pesto at the base of typical Trapani cuisine produced with simple ingredients. In the past it was the condiment of the humblest people.
Trapanese pesto is exceptional on toasted stale bread with anchovies, but also excellent on pasta (especially spaghetti) with the addition of a drizzle of oil.
